Are you our beloved Kapha? We need Kapha in our life and so you are very cherished to come here with your grounding and structured energy and perhaps it will be useful to make some changes according to the guidelines. We will try to make it as simple and structured as possible:

"Kapha in harmony is oily, cohesive, steady, virile, strong, self-disciplined, patient, and without greed" Charaka

10 Aspects of Kapha Diet

1. Reducing dairy. Kapha is better with reduced usage of milk and it is prefered to use lower fat milk. Boil the milk and in case of Kapha accumulation add one or two pinches of turmeric, cardamom or ginger.

Use less yogurt, cream, ice cream, cheese, butter

2. Fruit Light. Lighter, astringent fruits are the best, for example apple, pear, persimmon. Dried fruits are ok in small quantities. Use less very sweet, heavy, sour fruits (grape, orange, banana, pineapple, dates, avocados).

3. Sweet as honey? Honey is a good astrngent sweetener so it is nice for Kapha. Most sugar products increase Kapha so it is important to keep moderation in that area.

4. No nut! Avoid nuts and eat beans instead.

5. Gracious grain. Suitable grain are barley, millet, corn, rye buckwheat. Less wheat, oat and rice (they increase Kapha)

6. Spice up. Most spices are suitable for Kapha and geneorus spicing is preferred. Salt should be avoided as much as possible

7. Vegetable madness. Almost all vegetables are good for Kapha, prefer eating dishes enriched with vegetables. Only tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, zuchhini and sweet potatoes are not very suitable for you. Best choices: alfalfa sprouts, artichoke, asparagus, green beans, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, celery, chilies, cilantro, corn, kale, lettuce, and other leafy greens, mustard greens, onions, parsley, peas, hot peppers, potatoes, radish, seaweed, spinach, rutabagas/turnips.

8. A drop of oil. Oils should be used carefully and in small quantities. These oils are ok in small quantities: corn, flaxseed, mustard, safflower, soy.

9. Oops where is meat? Most meat and seafood is not suitable for Kapha. If really needed, some white meat from chicked and turkey solves the issue. Limit the consumption of meat to 2–3 times per week. Meat soups can be particularly nourishing and light enough for Kapha

10. Beverage well. Kapha is doing good with room-temperature drinks. It is usually ok with some caffeine. Mineral water is the best. Avoid sour juices and sweet drinks

A Few Aspects of Kapha Lifestyle and Suggestions

1. Elevating yourself - find spaces of stimulation, high energy and jou

  • Wake up a bit earlier than usual (preferred 5-6 a.m on Vata time of the day) to feel more light and stimulated

  • Start your day with small energizing exercise routine

  • Dry brushing and powder massages make Kapha feel invigorated

  • Keep a favourite lively music playlist nearby

  • Seek for stimulating company

  • Boost your metabolism in the morning with an...

agni drink!!

1 litre of water

1 pinch cayenne 2 handfuls minced ginger root 2 Tbs. honey up to 1 tsp rock salt

Boil for 20 min and drink warm or room-temperature. You can add some lime juice (1/2 lime)

2. Bring in dynamics and change - you are stable and structured, but sometimes you need to bring in change to crreate that spark of life and for your structured energy to be expressed in a better way and sometimes in new format

  • Change place of residence or create a vacation getaway space. Changing location will bring you in new ideas

  • Mix up the way you are doing something. If you are writing with your right hand, try with your left. Try going a different route to your work. Try a completely new hobby (the best ones for Kapha are the ones that involve some sort of movement). Even try a different pattern of thinking. Do these small changes and tries regularly

  • Move with your body - Kapha thrives with regular exercise. The best exercises for Kapha is something that allows for frequent environment changes - biking, walking or orientating, horse riding, paddling. But do something you turly find joy in

  • Move with your emotion. Allow frequent heart-to-hear converstations with your loved ones, take time to watch emotional movies, focus on your deeper feeling spectrum from time to time

3. Create smaller goals and daily tasks- Kapha keeps in mind long plans and has a long-term memory, but it's the daily itsy-bitsy things that sometimes get you clueless

  • Create daily to do task

  • Create the method for celebrating small changes and achievement - for example put a post it note somewhere for every small change and task during the week

  • Kapha does well from communicating with energized people and reflecting from them what needs to be done

  • If you have long-term goals, cut it into saller steps

4. Eat less and nap less - sometimes Kapha confuses it's energies and eats when offered or naps when bored. Learn to discern between different energies. Eating less usually benefits Kapha and Kapha actually needs less sleep than other doshas so less naps.

5. Breath techniques are specifically enlightening for Kapha
